Image Of The Week: Happy Labor Day, Ray

Though the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout organizers do a fine job keeping things moving, there are short gaps in the action between top-speed runs on the three-quarter-mile course. But for the media types roasting—make that poaching—in the late-August Central Missouri humidity on the cliffs above the waterway, the time between runs can seem eternal.

No matter how great they appear from the outside looking in, all jobs have their tedious moments. That’s why we have days off including—in honor our nation’s workforce—Labor Day.

Just ask Speedboat magazine publisher Ray Lee. He got so bored between speed runs during the shootout that he modeled the limited-edition Speedonthewater.com Center Console Roundup shirt—produced by Lake of the Ozarks-based Grow Marketing—that was given away to roundup participants earlier in the week. And we have Speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden’s Image of the Week to prove it.

Lee isn’t just a good sport—he’s a good friend and a colleague. And we hope he’s enjoying this Labor Day holiday. We know firsthand that he earned it.
