Because his stunning DCB Performance Boats M35 Widebody powered by twin Mercury Racing 1350 engines is named Bananas, Southern California’s Dave Megugorac said that for the last few years at the Monster Bash in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., he and his wife, Buffie, contemplated wearing banana costumes to the Saturday night dress-up party.

“We’ve considered wearing banana suits since everyone knows that’s the name of our boat, but the costumes we looked at or found online weren’t very flattering so we’ve decided against it,” said Megugorac, who is known around performance boating circles as “Magoo.”
This year, the Megugoracs made the same decision and planned to go to the party as a gangster and a flapper. But as luck would have it, they managed to get in a little banana suit fun with their cohorts for the weekend, the husband and wife behind Swoop Motorsports, Travis and Summer Richardson.
“The costumes accidentally worked out perfectly,” Magoo said with a laugh. “Buffie went to Walmart to find us some masks to wear at the different card stops. We saw some people do that last year and thought it was a fun idea. Then she noticed the stupid banana suits and that they had five in stock.
“Next thing I know we’re wearing the suits, which were great for $17, in the poker run,” he continued. “They were small and lightweight, not like some of the full banana suits I’ve seen that look uncomfortable. Everyone who saw us got a kick out of it. Buffie knew the Richardsons would have fun with it and she was right. Travis and Summer are awesome people—all of us had such a great time.”
Travis and Summer also opted not to go to the party dressed as bananas. Instead they went with some well-done ghoulish makeup and attended the Saturday evening function as Mr. and Mrs. Swoop of the Dead.
