With the 32nd annual Tickfaw 200 Poker Run just a couple of weeks away, speedonthewater.com co-publisher Jason Johnson and chief photographer Pete Boden are already gearing up to head for the legendary event based in Springfield, La. So, too, is insurance man Devin Wozencraft as he embarks on the 2019 “Wozencraft World Tour,” which will see him running his 30-foot, outboard-engine-powered Skater Powerboats catamaran in events around the country this year.

Wozencraft will head to the Tickfaw 200 immediately after next weekend’s Desert Storm Poker Run and all the activities leading up to it—including the always packed Desert Storm Street Party—in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., A longtime Desert Storm supporter who sponsors a card stop during the poker run, Wozencraft will run his own boat for the first time at this year’s event. Then he’ll hit the road for Louisiana.

Most times, Wozencraft has company from family to friends in his 30-footer during his season-long tour, which include a first-time stop at the Jacksonville River Rally and Poker Run this year. But for at least one portion of the 2018 Tickfaw 200 event, we caught him running alone. And since solo-occupant boats are a mighty rare sight in the event and it’s just around the corner—as is the 2019 Wozencraft World Tour—the photo above was natural choice for our Image of the Week.
