With the Old School team officially retired, Cigarette Racing Team didn’t have much representation—with the exception of Justice League—on the racecourse at the Race World Offshore World Championships in Key West, Fla., last month. But the Opa-locka, Fla.-headquartered V-bottom and center console builder had plenty of it in the Florida Powerboat Club Key West Poker Run.
And why not? Cigarette was the title sponsor of the club’s annual signature event.

Among the Cigarette models in the fleet was the 515 sportboat that paced last year’s Key West races. The 51-footer didn’t pull paceboat duty this time around, but it still turned plenty of heads during the week, including that of speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden.
Boden captured the image above on Thursday, the day before what would be the first contest of the week thanks to Wednesday’s water-conditions-forced cancelation. Conditions on Thursday were markedly improved from those on Wednesday, but there was still lots of rough stuff for the Cigarette 515 crew to enjoy, if that’s the right word, that day.
Victory at sea conditions, for sure, and just the right boat to handle them.
