While their sixth-place finish in the six-boat Class 7 field during last weekend’s Offshore Powerboat Association Ocean City Grand Prix in Maryland wasn’t spectacular, it was thrilling for Chase and Jax Muller, the teenage sons of big-name offshore powerboat racer Jay Muller. After all, it was their first ocean race—and the ocean was rough. Prior to the Ocean City, they’d only raced twice together on New Jersey’s Lake Hopatcong.

Photographer Tim Sharkey of Sharkey Images captured the Muller boys in impressively level flight in Chug It, their outboard engine-powered V-bottom. Said their proud father, “They had an absolute blast. It was their first ocean race and it was every bit of four- to six-footers out there.”
