Image of the Week: Bridge Under Troubled Water

Let’s get this out of the way up front: The powerboating action captured in this photo wouldn’t go over well at a poker run in the United States. But then, Sweden isn’t the U.S. and that’s where this image was captured during last weekend’s Poker Run Dalarna.

Hosing down the spectators lining the Vikabron Bridge is something of a tradition at this event, and the participants take pride in doing it well. And even on a cool summer day, the spectators appear to enjoy it. They even erupt in cheers as they’re getting soaked to the skin.

Just an hour in up the road from the Dalarna event, the Smedjebacken Poker Run begins today. And while the body of water involved is smaller than Lake Runn, the site of Poker Run Dalarna, it does include a bridge.

And it will be lined with spectators, who—I’m told—will leave soaked.
