As friends, fans and colleagues of Shaun Torrente, we appreciate his approach to speed on the water. A few years ago on Friday before the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Central Missouri, we caught a ride with him in his 30-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran called The Unicorn and experienced his formidable driving skills firsthand. Flat water, lumpy water—above the water—the guy was simply nails.
In town to run several boats this weekend in the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, Shaun Torrente treated friends to a high-flying moment in his MTI 390X catamaran yesterday on the Central Missouri waterway. Photo by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.
What else would you expect from a two-time F1 H2O tunnel-boat series world champion currently competing in offshore racing’s wickedly competitive Super Stock class?
In town to run several catamaran this weekend—Torrente already laid down a whopping 104-mph run on the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout three-quarter-mile course this morning in the electric outboard engine-powered Vision 32 catamaran—the Floridian behind Shaun Torrente Racing products took out a few friends for a ride in his MTI 390X catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines. And as happens on the Lake of the Ozarks, he encountered a hefty cruiser wake.
The result is in the photo above.
Of course, Torrente had it under control the whole time. The dude can just flat-out drive.
