Image Of The Week: A Stray 27 Magnum

It’s no secret that Miss GEICO offshore racing team crew chief Gary Stray is among the best in the business. He’s as experienced and successful—and unfailingly professional and gracious—as they come.

But who knew the guy was an accomplished photographer?

OK, like a lot of his longtime friends, we did. And we got a close look at his formidable photographic skill-set last week in the story we published on the new Magnum 27 sportboat.

Though he’s also applied those talents to chronicling the Miss GEICO team during the years, Stray’s preferred subjects are military aircraft in flight. And not from the ground. From the air.

Asked how he pulls off those aerial shoots, Stray laughed. “It’s all connections,” he said. “But it costs an awful lot of money to rent planes for days.

“Yeah mate,” he added. “I am a photographer in my other life.”

When it comes to photography, Gary Stray’s favorite subjects are military aircraft.
