Howe And Wilson Going Super Cat Racing In 2026

The co-star of the viral Howe2Live YouTube channel, Michael Howe loves a challenge. So, too, does Cade Wilson, a seasoned automobile racer, who purchased Sterling Engines in Milford, Mich., earlier this year. Now the two entrepreneurs are teaming up on a Super Cat-class offshore racing campaign that will kick off in 2026.

Cade Wilson (left) and Michael Howe will share the cockpit of a Super Cat-class raceboat next year.

Howe and Wilson met earlier this month during Race World Offshore Key West World Championship. Howe was there to throttle the Super V-class DSK Marine raceboat with driver Timothy Linden. Wilson was on hand to support his Sterling Engines clients, which included the DSK Marine team as well as Knucklehead Racing team, which went on to take the Super V World Championship title. They bonded immediately.

“During our time together Cade talked about wanting to build a Super Cat race team,” Howe recalled. “Even though I was in Key West to race Super V, most of my performance-boating experience is in catamarans—I have logged more than 50,000 miles driving catamarans. I had just driven the turbine engine-powered XINSURNANCE Mystic cat, and it was like an epiphany for me. I said, ‘Let’s do it.’”

Howe has purchased the former CR Racing Skater 388 raceboat from owner Rob Unnerstall, and Sterling Engines will build the class-spec Super Cat engines to power it. Howe will throttle and Wilson will drive.

Prior to the CR Racing team purchase, the 38-footer ran successfully under the Performance Boat Center banner.

“There is some rigging work to be done, but the boat is in fantastic shape,” Howe said. “I also looked at the WHM Motorsports and Liquor Split Super Cats. They’re both great boats, but I fell in love with this one.”

The new team will be dubbed DSK Marine/Sterling Engines.

Howe and Wilson have a proven winner in their new 38-foot Skater catamaran.

Asked what drove him to enter the sport, Wilson laughed.

“How could I not come to that decision?” he said. “I have been racing everything I could get my hands on for the past 25 years. Mike and I are like-minded—we love adventures and we love to push ourselves.

“Plus, there’s a good story here, ‘Let’s see if a racecar driver and can drive an offshore raceboat,'” he added, then laughed again.
