Habitual Heading to New Owner in Kuwait

Currently getting prepped and fine-tuned at CK Motorsports in Nunica, Mich., the 50-foot Mystic Powerboats catamaran called Habitual will soon be shipped to its new owner in Kuwait. Based in Tennessee, previous owner Chad Collier sold the well-known Mercury Racing 1350-engine-equipped 50-footer—the first Mystic C5000 to be powered by piston engines—through Shogren Performance Marine in Gurnee, Ill.

In addition to a cash payment, the sale of Habitual involved a trade of 44-foot Marine Technology Inc., catamaran and a 45-foot Cigarette Racing Team V-bottom from the Kuwaiti buyer. Those boats will be sold through Shogren Performance Marine.

“There was a lot of ‘horse trading’ involved,” Collier said.

Collier added that he isn’t done with the performance-boating scene and will continue to organize the annual Old Hickory Fun Run, but he needs to take a step back before buying his next boat.

“I’m just going to take a break for a little while,” he said. “I’m still going to Key West (for the upcoming Super Boat International World Championships) and still doing the Old Hickory Fun Run. I am just going to wait on the right boat and the right deal. I think I want a (Mercury Racing) 1100 boat.”
