Known in high-performance marine industry circles as a top-notch power-and-propulsion setup man for years, Mike Griffiths departed Mercury Racing in July 2017 to take the role of production manager at Marine Technology, Inc., in Wentzville, Mo. But the move never proved to be a good fit for Griffiths or MTI principal Randy Scism, so this fall they parted ways by mutual agreement and Griffiths rejoined his colleagues at the Fond du Lac, Wis., high-performance marine engine and accessories company as a hydrodynamics specialist.
Performance-driven to the core, Mike Griffiths has returned to Mercury Racing.
“It’s good to be back home doing what I always enjoyed, continually improving product for our customers,” said Griffiths.
Said Scism, “We wish Mike nothing but the best at Mercury Racing.”
For Griffiths, however, “home” will not be Wisconsin, though he’ll frequently travel to Mercury Racing headquarters in Fond du Lac. Griffiths will be based out of the St. Louis area, where he and his wife, Ruthie, currently have a home.
“When Mike let me know he was available we acted quickly to find him a position that helps our business and benefits all of our customers,” said Stuart Halley, the general manager of Mercury Racing. “Mike has experienced many different high performance boat applications and specializes in maximizing both performance and handling. With the 450R outboards pushing boats faster than before it will be a great benefit to our partners to assist them with high-speed setup.”
