With 30-plus high-performance catamarans, V-bottom sportboats and center consoles in the fleet, last weekend’s Rock the Bay Poker Run on Maryland’s famed Chesapeake Bay was far from Poker Runs America’s biggest event of the year. But for New Jersey-based photographer Tim Sharkey of Sharkey Images, it was one of the most enjoyable events he’s shot this season.

“They’ve really stepped up that run,” Sharkey said. “They had full table service at lunch rather than a buffet at Nick’s Fish House, which meant there was no standing in line and the food came out fresh. Joppatowne Marina was the last card stop, and they had a live band playing and an incredible car show. The marina is under new ownership and they’re really putting this place on the map.

Poker Runs America has produced Rock the Bay for the past four years. Prior to PRA adding the event to its roster, it was locally hosted and organized.
Said Poker Runs America’s Todd Taylor, “They really love boating in that area and their camaraderie is special. They’re a great group—and the seafood dining there is amazing.”
