Gallery Of The Week: Nordic’s Big Boppers

Although we’ve shared news on the largest two boats to come out of the Nordic Boats facility in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., during the past several months, we’ve yet to show off the finished products of either the latest 43 Enforcer catamaran or the 40 Sport Cat from the builder. Until now.

Both Nordics were wrapped up at different points this summer, and both catamaran-style boats are head-turners for different reasons.

The more performance-focused cat—the 43 Enforcer—actually made its debut at the Desert Storm Poker Run in Lake Havasu City in April, but Nordic installed a simple six-seat interior to get the boat, which is powered by twin Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines, done in time for the biggest performance boat event on the West Coast. A couple of months later, the stunning eight-seat cockpit was completed in the boat that was built for company owner Randy Davis.

Check out the slideshow above for more images of the 43-foot cat and its eight-seat cockpit.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the cruiser-style 40 Sport Cat—a project Nordic took on in June after acquiring the 40-footer and its molds from Eliminator Boats—was wrapped up last month. The company showed off the wave-crushing cat, which is powered by twin Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines, at the Southern California Offshore Powerboat Elite Poker Run from Long Beach, Calif., to Catalina Island in late September.

The slideshow above includes more images of the outboard-powered 40-foot cat.

As expected, the unique model was very well received at the annual event. The 43 Enforcer, also as expected, has been a hit during some weekends at Lake Mead, the Colorado River-fed lake that borders Arizona and Nevada.

We do not anticipate writing a lot of stories on 40- and 43-foot cat deliveries from Nordic—the talented crew over there has dozens of other deck boats, sport cats, V-bottoms and ski race boats to build—but any one that does come through the production line is sure to deserve the coverage.
