Local performance-boat and personal watercraft owners in Sarasota, Fla.—as well as out-of-towners who bring their boats—will get a chance to spend an organized day on the water as part of the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Festival June 27-July 4. On Sunday June 28, the annual Suncoast Fun Run will kick off at 11 a.m. from Marina Jack for a casual, 60-mile round-trip that includes a lunch stop at the Tarpon Point Grill in Bradenton.

“They have done it every year, but this year they are trying to make it even bigger and better,” said Ryan Beckley, a local offshore racer and performance-boat owner. “It’s basically the same course we do for our New Year’s Day Fun Run.”
In addition to lunch at the Tarpon Pointe Grill, stops during the run will include The Old Salty Dog, Moore’s Stone Crab Restaurant and the Seafood Shack Marina Bar & Grill. Sponsors include all of the participating restaurants as well as the Joey Gratton Memorial Foundation, Action Kawasaki/Yamaha and Marina Jack, which will serve as the beginning and end points for the event. The run is scheduled to finish at 4 p.m.
Cost is $20 per participant. Proceeds will benefit Suncoast Charities for Children. For more information, visit the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Festival website.
