Barring last-minute sign-ups, the Four Horsemen Poker Run will have a smaller-than-usual fleet departing Sweetwater Performance Center and Marina in Oshkosh, Wis., this Saturday for Lake Winnebago. The 14th annual happening currently has 31 boats registered, seven of which are sponsor boats that will run in Saturday’s main event. Though the organizers had set a 50-boat limit for the run, sign-ups lagged this year.
Despite that they won’t be joining the Four Horsemen Poker Run fleet this weekend on Lake Winnebago in the Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats V-bottom, Matt and Carla Sagorac have already donated $1,000 to support the event’s benefitting charity. Photos by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.
Still, everyone involved is looking forward to the event, which is once again raising money for locally based Christine Anne Domestic Abuse Services, Inc., a nonprofit 37-room emergency shelter, according Sweetwater general manager Gary Swanson.
“We lost a few poker-runners who wanted to come to parts-supply delays,” he said. “Overall, we are very happy with the attendance. It’s a lot of fun with a smaller group as we all get time to catch up with old friends and make some new ones along the way.”
Located on the shores of the Fox River leading to Lake Winnebago, Sweetwater Performance Center and Marina is the event’s longtime home-base.
In 2022, the event raised $25,000 for the charity. That donation was $10,000 more than the poker-run brought in for the organization in 2021.
Said Swanson, “Matt and Carla Sagorac, who will be unable to attend this year, already donated $1,000.”
