Four Event Experiences Secured For ‘Racing To Rebuild’ SOTW Key West Bash Charity Auction

For performance boat owners and their guests who come to Key West, Fla., by water—and the 30th annual Florida Powerboat Club Key West Poker Run already has 250 boats registered for its November 8-13 trek—bringing home a large auction item from the annual Thursday night Speed On The Water Key West Bash at the Sandbar Sports Grill is a total pain. Stowage space is limited in even the largest center consoles, V-bottom sportboats and catamarans, and no wants to waste precious time in Key West looking for a UPS or FedEx store.

If speedonthewater.com had a hidden-gem award for go-fast boating events in 2022, it would have gone to the Hartwell Lake Charity Run in South Carolina based on participant feedback. Photo by Tony Chiaramonte copyright DCB Performance Boats.

That’s why in recent years we’ve focused on auctioning complete poker run experiences during our Key West celebration, which is set for Thursday, November 10, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Sandbar and presented by CMR Construction and Roofing. And this year, we have four poker run experiences—in addition to three Key West-based offshore racing experiences—to auction off during the bash, which is themed “Racing To Rebuild” and raise money for Key West-based Samuel’s House and the Fort Myers Beach recovery the #WeAreFMB Resilient fund organized by the Fort Myers Beach Women’s Club and the Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation.

Here’s a quick look at what will be on the poker-run experience—each with its approximate value—on the auction block:

Hartwell Lake Charity Run, June 9-11 ($3,500 value)
—Includes registration, dockage and three nights lodging for the 14th annual South Carolina event benefitting Meals On Wheels-Anderson.

Boyne Thunder Poker Run, July 7-8 ($4,000 value)
—Includes Sponsorship package to 20th annual event in Northern Michigan with boat slip and a two-night stay at Boyne Mountain Resort.

Lake Cumberland Poker Run, September 7-10 ($4,000 value)
