Originally set for this coming Friday, the Fort Myers Offshore New Year’s Comrie Cancer Foundation Fun Run to Marco Island has been rescheduled for Saturday, December 31. Cold weather forecasted for Friday forced the Florida-based nonprofit organization, which raises college scholarship money for students in need, to reschedule the event.

Former club president Bob Barnhart explained the decision to change the date today in a post on the club’s Facebook page.
“I think most understand by now it is a result of an approaching cold front on Friday,” he wrote. “All aspects of the run remain the same with a 10:30 a.m. start at the Sanibel Bridge. While Jay (Nichols) will be in the helicopter shooting stills, Pete (Boden) will not be available for the video shoot due to a prior commitment.”
According to Barnhart, FMO president Eric Belisle will send confirmation emails to club members later today.
Boden’s absence—he’ll be shooting the Joey Gratton Memorial New Year’s Day Fun Run on Sunday—opens up a seat in the helicopter hired as a photo platform for the event.
“Anyone be interested in purchasing a two-hour ride in the helicopter for just $300 can contact me for more details,” wrote Barnhart. “See you all Saturday and thank you for your understanding.”
