Headquartered in Decatur, Ind., Formula Boats is one of three boat companies that have been named to the “short list” for the International Boat Industry/Marine Equipment Trade Show organizations’ 2015 Innovation In A Production Process Award. The winner will be announced Nov. 18 during a METSTRADE gala dinner in Amsterdam, Holland. Formula announced the news late yesterday on its Facebook page.
The company earned its nomination for its new-for-2015 FormulaFlex program (read the story) designed to offer buyers the highest level of personalization/customization in what are for all intents and purposes are “production-built” sportboat and cruiser lines.
Thanks to the award-nominated FormulaFlex program, buyers can truly personalize Formula models such as the 350 CBR (Cross Over Bowrider) shown here. Photo courtesy/copyright Formula Boats.
According to a press release on the IBI/METS website, “Formula Boats new FormulaFlex program—developed to allow each buyer to customise their boat to various degrees with no extra cost—caught the eye of the judging panel. Further upgrades are also available through its FormulaFlex MyWay program. Formula’s unique approach has required a total revision of production communications, from computer generated instructions on the production ticket to face-to-face encounters between the point of sale and the shop floor, enhanced by the latest in wireless technology.”
The other two nominees for the honor are European boat builders Monte Carlo Yachts and Karnic Powerboats.
