Unless the Sunshine State experiences another record-setting cold snap, the iguanas will be back in their trees in time for the first Florida Powerboat Club of 2023. But for performance-boat enthusiasts already weary of winter, the outfit’s Winter Poker Run to Key Largo, set for January 27-29, can’t come soon enough.
So far, 20 club members have signed up for the weekend run to Key Largo, which can accommodate 30 boats and will be based out of the upscale Playa Largo Resort.

“There are about 10 rooms are left in the club’s room inventory, including a few Bayview rooms and spacious bungalows,” said Stu Jones, the president of the Florida Powerboat Club. “The Playa Largo Marina has been reserved exclusively for the weekend event, which will feature a fun run to the Middle Keys on Saturday.”
During the early evenings, club functions will happen at the resort’s Sol by the Sea waterfront restaurant. To help participants make their way around the area by land, the Florida Powerboat Club will have its mini-bus sponsored by Sanders Ford on hand.
“The Winter Poker Run has a low-key, casual vibe that returning participants love,” said Jones. “It’s much smaller than many of our events. Sometimes, less is more.”
