Talented photographer Tim Sharkey was just about everywhere you looked during the 2010 Miami International Boat Show Feb. 11-14. Sharkey, whose photographs have appeared in Powerboat magazine and other publications, spent hours shooting entire performance-boat displays including those of Cigarette, Outerlimits, Skater and Sunsation.

But Sharkey’s biggest catch during the show wasn’t anything in a performance-boat builder’s line—it was the interior of Copeland’s Phenomenon, a one-of-a-kind 50-foot catamaran with four 3,000-hp turbine engines. According to the Copeland camp—Al Copeland, Jr., the son of the late offshore racing great Al Copeland, is spearheading the project—the boat is designed for an attempt to break the propeller-driven water-speed record.

Though the exterior of the wild-looking catamaran has been extensively photographed, Sharkey is the first shooter to capture the six-seat boat’s interior. Several publications reportedly are interested in acquiring the never-before-published photos. “I told Al Copeland, Jr., I wanted to shoot the inside of the boat, and he said ‘Great, go right ahead,” said Sharkey. “It’s really spectacular. I’ve never seen anything like it, and the images are pretty amazing.”
