It took more time than expected to get the first 2018 issue of Speed On The Water magazine live on the site, but it’s available now—for FREE—and we seem to have a good rhythm headed into the next one, which we hope can be close to as good as the January/February 2018 issue, which can be downloaded for free here.

28th cover 0218Following plenty of traffic-spiking news between the Miami International Boat Show and the kilo record attempt a week later, February was a fun and busy month. This issue reflects that starting with the cover story on Cigarette Racing Team’s longstanding marketing partnership with Mercedes-AMG that was highlighted at the Miami show by the supercar-inspired 515 Project ONE sportboat featuring Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines.

We also have two boat profiles on the jaw-dropping MTI-V 57 center console powered by quad Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines and the equally impressive 38-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran owned by former offshore racer Danny DeSantis and powered by twin Mercury Racing 1100 engines.

Speaking of the kilo attempt, speedonthewater.com got to spend some time with Fred Ross, the Kansas City businessman who wants to make it clear that Fountain Powerboats is back—and the same goes for Baja Marine and Donzi Marine. Enjoy the exclusive interview with the gentleman who also owns Big Thunder Marine in Missouri.

For a little change of pace, check out the feature on the boaters who gathered to explore the trails of Wyoming’s Snowy Range during Michael “Doc” Janssen’s International Snowmobile Rally hosted by Saratoga Hot Springs Resort. Of course, the departments are the same and include Bob Teague’s take on running a few outboard-powered sport catamarans in Miami, On Scene from the Florida Powerboat Club’s Miami Boat Show Poker Run and a cool Product Spotlight on Broward Trailer’s new 3D laser scanning technology to get the best fit possible for any hull.
