Between profiles on a couple of hot new models that couldn’t be more different—an outboard-powered 28-foot Skater cat and a 50-foot Outerlimits V-bottom with twin 1,550-hp turbocharged engines—and a barrage of event coverage from across the country, including feature stories about the Boyne Thunder Poker Run, the Rock The Coast Fun Run, the inaugural Outerlimits Factory Fun Run and the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, the latest Speed On The Water digital magazine has a generous amount of content to digest.
The better-late-than-never July/August 2019 Speed On The Water digital magazine, which you can download for free here, also includes On Scene coverage of seven other events in California, Florida, Michigan, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Tennessee that took place in July and August, as well as a closer look at FLIR’s next-generation night vision cameras and other useful boating products. And resident world champion and speedonthewater.com columnist/test driver Shaun Torrente explains how his dream job has come with a lot of hard work, dedication and sacrifice.
We also tackle, in this month’s editor’s note, the ever-tricky process of choosing covers for the bi-monthly digital magazine. Not that they’re ever easy, but this month’s decision was particularly difficult with several worthy contenders. In the end, Todd and Danielle Fountain’s twin Mercury Racing 300R-powered Skater won out for a variety of reasons, one of which was the overall amount of exposure the boat had previously received.
As publishing problems go—and we usually have speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden to thank for it—having multiple cover options is a good one to have. So go ahead and enjoy more of Boden’s images of the Skater and everything else in the latest issue of our digital magazine.
