Deep Impact Boats, a Miami-based builder of custom high-performance center consoles, has brought Charles (Kim) Bradley on board as its director of sales and marketing. Bradley, who joined the company yesterday, has a long history in the marine industry of working for companies such as Bertram Yachts, Black Fin, Boston Whaler and SeaCraft. At one point his career, he even started his own company called North Coast Yacht, which built high-end sportfishing boats from 24 to 31 feet long.

Bradley’s new position at Deep Impact presents his first exposure to the high-performance powerboat world.

“That’s something I have to learn, and I think I’m going to like it,” said Bradley in a telephone interview this morning.  “When I went to Bertram the biggest boat I had ever worked with was 30 feet long, so I had to learn I enjoy learning something new.”

So new is Bradley to Deep Impact that he has not yet ridden in one of the company’s models—something he said he is eager to do. In the meantime, however, he has more immediate plans and priorities, such as expanding Deep Impact presence in the yacht tender market, related to his new job.

“We want to make sure we are reaching high-end clientele who have larger yachts of some sort,” Bradley explained. “We want to position Deep Impact so that everyone knows it is a premium product. We want to address the European market a little—no, a lot. We need to make sure we are putting forward a first-class presentation as a factory-direct business and taking all the steps necessary to make ordering a boat a fun process all the way through.

“We have a unique look and we have excellent performance,” he added. “But Deep Impact’s level of customization is one of the things that most interested me. I have been in the boat business for a long time, and I found this to be a particularly attractive opportunity.”
