Attending Monster Bash Oct. 15-16 in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., for the first time this year and a long way from home will be Scott Sjogren of Shogren Performance Marine based in McHenry, Ill. Sjogren will leave the event with a DCB Performance Boats M29 catamaran, the first of three he’s commissioned for future customers in Missouri and states East of the Mississippi, with twin Mercury Racing Verado 400R outboard engines. The first 29-footer will be a “demo boat” in the Shogren showroom—at least until it sells—as well as a boat the company principal plans to showcase at winter events in the Fort Myers, Fla., area.

Heading for a Monster Bash delivery, this DCB M29 catamaran is the first of three 29-footers commissioned by Shogren Performance Marine.

“We have another one coming right behind that,” said Sjogren. “I can’t wait to get them. The guys at DCB are great to work with—I went out and toured the shop and I’ve known DCB’s Jeff Johnston since the Powerboat magazine days. This is a relationship industry, and our relationship is great.”

In an advance move, Johnston said that DCB ordered Myco trailers for all three catamarans headed to Shogren Performance Marine. All will be powered by twin Verado 400R outboards.

“We both opted to make it a model-specific deal and so far it’s been great so far,” said Johnston. “In addition to knowing Scott through Powerboat, I worked with him when I was at Hering Propellers. The first boat has spectacular gelcoat. The second is about six weeks behind that.”

Said Sjogren, “Going into 2017 with DCB and Mystic we are positioning ourselves to be more of a manufacturer’s rep than a ‘boat dealership.’ When you buy a product from us, we want it to be like the experience of buying factory direct.”
