In an effort to remind boaters that DCB Performance Boats isn’t only about the high-performance, high-dollar, high-horsepower 35- and 41-foot cats that have received tons of attention on social media and websites like speedonthewater.com, the El Cajon, Calif., boat builder just finished a firecracker F26 catamaran powered by a pair of Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines.

Yesterday, DCB’s Tony Chiaramonte water-tested the first 26-foot cat the company has produced in almost four years on Southern California’s Lake Elsinore. Today, Chiaramonte hauled the F26, which topped out at 122 mph at 7000 rpm, to Discovery Bay, Calif., where he will run it in the Big Cat Poker Run. He said the boat, which weighs roughly 4,800 pounds, handled the twin 400-hp engines great and accelerated like a dragster.

Equipped with a clean red and black interior with vinyl upholstery and partial Alcantara inserts throughout, the boat features quarter-canopy-style windshields and sits on custom IKON Trailer, a first for DCB.

“The new F26 was built as a stock boat but we’ve had some interest in it from people who knew we’ve been building it,” said DCB’s Jeff Johnston, adding that DCB received an order for an F26 with the same power yesterday after it posted information on the boat on its Facebook page. “It is about $220,000 as-tested with the new Mercury Racing five-blade CNC over-hub cleaver propellers—about $210,000 with the standard Bravo One propellers.

“We’re pretty excited about the boat and can’t wait to hear what people think about it following the Big Cat Poker Run,” he added. “It ran great on Lake Elsinore and we expect it to do the same on the Delta.”
