As the former chief executive officer of Peters And May, a global yacht and shipping company based in the United Kingdom, Dave Holley made a name for himself in the high-performance powerboat world as a benefactor of international F1 tunnel-boat and Unlimited hydroplane racing. During Holley’s tenure at Peters And May, the company not only arranged worldwide shipping services for raceboats but sponsored several teams, as well as development programs for young, aspiring racers.
Holly, who exited the company in July, has accepted new role as chief executive officer of United Yacht Transport based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He will start in January.
Industry veteran Dave Holley, a longtime supporter of powerboat racing on multiple levels, is the new chief executive officer of United Yacht Transport.
“After taking a six-month break from the industry I am looking forward to working with the United Yacht Transport team to continue the growth of the business and to help it expand to new horizons,” he said in a press release from the company. “The yacht transportation industry is where I belong and in some ways it’s where I have grown up.”
The move by United Yacht Transport, which underwent significant restructuring this year, to bring on Holley was immediately welcomed by members of the racing community including Unlimited hydroplane racing world-champion Steve David, who retired from the sport in 2013. “
“Dave is one of the most insightful people I’ve ever met,” he said. “He has a keen ability to watch, listen, analyze and then make the right decision. He left an indelible mark of spirit and support in our Unlimited hydroplane family.”

Added two-time defending F1H20 tunnel boat champion Shaun Torrente of Florida, “I’m really happy for Dave. He was instrumental in my transition overseas in giving me the wherewithal and backing of Peters And May, as one of my first major sponsors, to go over there and try to accomplish my dreams. What started out as a sponsorship turned into a lifelong friendship.”
