Powerboat owners in New Jersey will have an opportunity to expand their boating educations—and complete a license requirement—on Sunday, May 5, thanks to Toms River-based Coty Marine. A full service new Sunsation and multi-brand pre-owned powerboat dealer, the outfit is hosting a Safe Boating course that day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Instructor Harry Vliet, who holds a United States Coast Guard 100 Ton Master License, will lead the course, which is open to the public. Cost is $75 person and includes all class materials (and final exam) as well as breakfast and lunch at the Coty Marine facility.
Successfully passing a certified Safe Boating course is required for anyone applying for a boat license in the Garden State. A boat license and New Jersey Boat Safety Certificate are legally required for anyone operating a powerboat (including personal watercraft) on “ tidal and non-tidal waters” in the state.
Pre-registration must be completed by May 1. For more information, contact Dave Patnaude of Coty Marine, 732-288-1000.
