Cigarette Mercedes-AMG Celebrate Dual Anniversaries with GT R-Inspired 50’ Marauder

Unveiled this morning at the Miami International Boat Show, the new Cigarette Racing Team/Mercedes-AMG 50’ Marauder, which takes its exterior and interior graphic and styling cues from the new Mercedes-AMG GT R automobile, celebrates not only the 10th anniversary of the collaboration between Cigarette and Mercedes-AMG but the 50th anniversary of AMG. To that end, Mercedes-AMG created a special logo that incorporates both milestone numbers for the deck and hullsides of the 50-footer.

“Gordon Wagener (the chief design officer for Daimler AG) created the paint scheme,” said Skip Braver, the owner and chief executive officer of Cigarette Racing Team in Opa-locka, Fla. “That Mercedes-AMG thinks enough of us on their 50th anniversary to include us in a logo celebrating that anniversary is special.”

Powered by a pair of power-adjustable Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines, the matte green boat reportedly tops out in the 135-mph range.

“From the very beginning we were confident that Mercedes-AMG would be the perfect partner as our companies both take great pride in our triumphant racing heritage and maintain a steadfast focus on pushing the limits of performance,” Braver said in a press release from Mercedes Benz. “It is now an extremely proud moment to celebrate 10 years of working together and demonstrate the strength of our collaboration with Mercedes-AMG by unveiling our most impressive high-performance boat yet.”

According to the release, carbon fiber was used extensively in the design and build of the 2017 50’ Marauder AMG to help shed more than 1,300 pounds. In addition, the deck, cockpit and consoles were developed using advanced laminate analysis techniques and are all constructed from carbon fiber with foam core. Designed by Cigarette’s Bud Lorow and Chad Braver, the son of the company owner, the engine hatch is also completely carbon fiber, employing vacuum infusion technology for its construction.

Created for this year’s Miami International Boat Show, this wall in the Cigarette display celebrates the marketing partnership between the legendary sportboat/center console and automobile companies.

“The interior was built in conjunction with the AMG Performance Studio in Germany,” Braver said. “The seat inserts were produced there and set to Cigarette in Florida. The exterior is painted with a carbon fiber effect and the same matte green as the car.”

Said Wagener in the release, “The 2017 50’ Marauder AMG is a particularly striking result of our continued collaboration with the Cigarette Racing Team, and a fitting tribute to honor 10 years of working together. One racing icon has inspired another, and we are proud to continue to set the benchmark and seamlessly combine design and performance both on land and on the sea.”

The new logo, which incorporates the numbers 50 and 10, was created to celebrate dual anniversaries for the companies.

“Performance, perfection and passion are the values that unite Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing,” said Tobias Moers, the chairman of the board of management for Mercedes AMG GmbH, in the release. “Based on these values, eight sensational special editions have been created during our successful 10 years of collaboration, and the 2017 50’ Marauder AMG presented here is a particular highlight among these. The new edition is thus a symbol for the 10-year partnership with Cigarette Racing as well as for Mercedes-AMG’s 50th anniversary.”
