An artists rendering of the Checkmate 36′ Convincor emphasizes the new model’s sleek lines.
Checkmate Marine has started production of its much-anticipated 26’ Convincor V-bottom. According to a press release from the Bucyrus, Ohio, company, the builder is shooting for a spring 2012 release.
“I’m excited to reveal this custom-designed, unique looking performance boat to the boating community,” said Doug Smith, the owner of Checkmate, in the release. “We’ve spent a lot of time on the design of this model, creating it from scratch, and including truly unique details that you won’t see anywhere else.”
Stylistic highlights include a functional windshield/windscreen that was designed specifically for the new model. Interior features include a spacious cockpit with an 8’6” beam, a well-outfitted interior, plenty of seating and a generous cabin with a V-berth. A fiberglass swim platform is standard.
Power options include a 380-hp MerCruiser 8.2 Mag or a 430-hp MerCruiser 8.2 H.O. Outboard engine options (Read the story) also will be offered.
Base price with the 380-hp engine is approximately $80,000.
