Charity Rides Available on Bananas DCB and Dial 911 Skater at Rock the Docks

A few days ago I read a Facebook post from Dave Magoo about his involvement with charity rides during the upcoming Rock the Docks event in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. Megugorac—that’s his real last name—was flattered that the team at DCB Performance Boats was going to pay for the gas during the charity rides he agreed to give during the inaugural event in two weeks (Oct. 20-21).

So much so that he offered to add $100 to every person paying $200 to ride in Bananas, his DCB M35 Widebody catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing 1350 engines, ensuring that $300 per ride will go straight to the Western Arizona Humane Society, the charity behind the event that is being co-organized by Swoop Motorsports and River Whips.

That Megugorac would even spend the time taking people for rides after his friends, Travis and Summer Richardson of Swoop Motorsports, asked him if he’d like to join them and the Dial 911 Skater Powerboats catamaran on Saturday as another way to raise money for charity, speaks to his generosity. It’s another thing to contribute even more money to the cause because you feel like you’re getting off easy not having to pay for the fuel.

“None of this was my idea—it was all Travis and Summer—I just said I’d do it,” Megugorac said. “My wife, Buffie, and I try to give back as much as we can, and this seemed like a fun way to raise a good amount of money since 100 percent of the money we raise with these rides is going to the Western Arizona Humane Society.”

Megugorac added that there’s still time to sign up for a ride with him in Bananas or with Summer in Dial 911—a seat in the Skater is $50 more at $250. If you’re interested in signing up, email [email protected] The boats will be on hand from about 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the docks of the event’s host hotel, the Nautical Beachfront Resort.
