A household name in the high-performance powerboat world, Grant Bruggemann of Grant’s Signature Racing in Bradenton, Fla., will be joining industry luminaries Bob Teague of Teague Custom Marine and John Tomlinson of TNT Custom Marine on the speedothewater.com test team. While the daily high-performance powerboating news site, which also publishes a weekly newsletter, bi-monthly digital magazine and a collectible annual Year In Review print magazine, does not regularly include formal “boat reviews” in its coverage, speedonthewater.com does—whenever possible—bring in experts for hands-on evaluations for features on new and existing catamarans, V-bottoms and center consoles.

Bruggemann is a renowned high-performance pleasure boat and raceboat rigger, as well as an offshore racing veteran. With driver Chuck Broaddus, he throttled the Superboat-class Broadco MTI catamaran to a Super Boat International world title in 2014, and for the past two years he throttled the STIHL catamaran and managed the team. This year, he’s throttling for the Cleveland Construction team.
Most recently, Bruggemann partnered with his friend and former colleague Brian Jackson of Offshore Outdrives to bring complete stern-drive service into the Grant’s Signature Racing Shop.
“With all the boats I run and test and rig—and re-rig— think I bring a little bit to the table for speedonthewater,” Bruggemann said, then chuckled. “Plus, I race against the other two gentlemen I’ll be testing boats with, so it should be a lot of fun.”
