Working with veteran throttleman, team manager and rigger Grant Bruggemann of Grant’s Signature Racing for the past two years, the Broadco team earned several distinctions and “a multitude of lifelong memories, according to Broaddus, including the aforementioned 2014 world championship and SBI’s Golden Eagle Award “for exemplary professionalism to the sport of powerboat racing and putting forth everything they have to win” that year.

“We are very happy with the efforts of MTI and Grant’s Signature Racing—we wish Grant good fortune and success in all future endeavors—on the rigging side for the construction of a new world class Superboat-class race boat,” said Broadus in the release. “We believe that with the implementation of MTI’s next-generation canopy design and the additional safety components engineered by Grant, it is the safest boat on the racecourse. With regard to its performance, as in any new boat there is some additional dialing in that needs to be done but the boat is fast. After a horrific start on Wednesday’s race in Key West we were able to advance through the pack achieving the fastest average lap speed of the day, with a third place overall finish. The next two races were experimental with setup changes that didn’t quite achieve what we were looking for but confirmed that the boat was more than competitive.

“We wish to thank each and every member of our team, our families, our sponsors and supporters, our fans and friends, our competitors and racing families for all of the good times and experiences had by all,” he added. “We have made lifelong relationships and connections with some very amazing people for which we are forever grateful.”

Broadco is selling its “turnkey Superboat-class race team” assets. Broaddus said that while he is listing the team’s assets, all of which are owned by Cat 5 LLC, as a whole, he willing consider selling individual pieces of equipment. He can be contacted by “serious buyers only” via email at [email protected].
