In a match made in extreme motorsports and offshore-racing marketing heaven, Travis Pastrana and Jim York will pilot the XINSURNANCE/Statement Marine Mod-V class V-bottom at the Race World Offshore Key West World Championships set for November 2-9. Pastrana will throttle and York will drive.

Though competing in Key West will be a first for the legendary extreme sports and stunts duo, it will not be their first time racing together in an offshore raceboat. In 2022, they shared the cockpit of the Twisted Tea Mod V for a couple of events.

Through good timing and at least one great connection, the Key West opportunity presented itself for Pastrana and York

“I’ve always wanted to race Key West, but this is the first year my schedule has allowed me to be a part of it,” Pastrana explained. “I had planned to go down there to cheer on my friend Brit Lilly, but Jim (who knows XINSURNANCE principal Rick J. Lindsey) found us a boat so here we go,”

The opportunity also arose through the Mod-V class XINSURANCE/Statement team’s regular throttleman Nick Buis and driver J.J. Turk, who also run the XINSURANCE North Pro Class 1 raceboat. With what is shaping up to be the biggest Pro Class 1 fleet of the year, Buis and Turk want to focus their full attention on competing in that category.

“I’m still a sketch throttleman and Jim doesn’t know anything about watersports,” Pastrana added, then laughed. “But I’m looking forward to another chance to argue with him like an old married couple while being scared for my life and trying to keep us afloat.”
