Details on this one are a little sketchy, but Dean Loucks of The Art Of Design Paint shop in Elkhart, Ind., is helping assemble a high-performance boat graphics competition for the 2010 Miami International Boat Show Feb. 11-14. The competition is being spearheaded by Icon Paints and Mystic Powerboats.

The organizers are currently assembling a panel of judges. Loucks likely will serve as the lead judge.

“I was asked by Mystic and Icon to judge, and I said, ‘Great, but if I do it The Art Of Design stuff can’t be in the competition,’” said Loucks. “The Miami show is an ideal venue, because builders usually display what they’re most proud of there.”

First prize will be a state-of-the-art Iwata paint gun designed by Pininfarina, the famed Italian design group. The prize will be presented to the builder when the winner has been determined, which should be a few days after the show has concluded.
