While details are scarce at this time, a 30-foot Spectre catamaran powered by triple outboard engines flipped today during this morning’s Buffalo Poker Run on Lake Erie in Western New York. The boat’s driver/owner, who reportedly owns a marine business in the area, and its occupants survived the crash. (A significant head injury has been reported for one of the accident victims but that is unconfirmed, as is the number of people who were on board.)

“I think they were speed-restricted (by the event’s organizer) at the time,” said a poker run participant who requested anonymity. “I’m guessing that’s why everyone survived.”

Paramedics reportedly were on the scene of the accident immediately.

The annual Buffalo Poker Run is hosted by the Western New York Offshore Powerboat Association. This year’s run attracted 85 boats.
