Blind Tiger Highlights New Tickfaw 200 Poker Run Stops

Casey Harrison, one of the primary organizers of the annual Tickfaw 200 Poker Run hosted by Blood River Landing in Springfield, La., has a calmness about him that makes it seem like there’s not going to be thousands of people converging on the local waterways and establishments in just few weeks. That’s probably because he’s been here before.

The fact that South Carolina’s Todd Campbell is officially taking delivery of what’s one of the largest entries in Tickfaw 200 history—his new MTI-V 57 luxury performance center console powered by quad Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines—at the poker run, doesn’t cause any inflection in his southern drawl. Nor does it change when he mentions that he’s excited to see newcomers like DCB principals Tony Chiaramonte and Jeff Johnston, who are bringing the company’s M33R demo model to the event, and regulars such as Michael Pierce in his Pure Platinum Skater Powerboats cat and John Woodruff in his 48-foot MTI Windship.

Once again, Harrison is expecting a substantial turnout—the marina’s RV lot has been sold out for months—with boats coming from as far as California, New Jersey and Michigan. He said he’s grateful to have a couple of new stops for the event this year, including an “oldie but goodie” in the form of Morton’s Seafood in Madisonville, which is expected to be serving up authentic Louisiana cuisine. He seems most excited about the new stop in Slidell at The Blind Tiger Restaurant.

“The Blind Tiger is a new first-rate development in Slidell that a very welcome addition to the event,” Harrison said. “The restaurant has tons of dock space, indoor/outdoor seating and a beach volleyball court. It’s a nice complement to the other favorite stops that are returning.”

Harrison also pointed out that Tickfaw 200 and Texas Outlaw Challenge are going to join up again on the High Roller Gold grand prize poker run hand for boaters that participate in both events.
