Business partners Baca Marine and Pfaff Engines recently announced that the Huntington Beach, Calif., outfit is taking over the longtime customers serviced by John’s Custom Marine in Stanton, Calif., which permanently closed its doors after more than 45 years of serving Southern California boaters.
From fishing boats and high-performance catamarans to sport tunnels and offshore V-bottoms, Baca Marine-Pfaff Engines handles it all.
With company founders John and Al Stoker ready to move on to new chapters in their lives, they officially closed up the shop last month and posted this on their website: “Our loyal customers have always come first, so our familiar 714-827-7920 number is now forwarding to Baca Marine-Pfaff Engines in Huntington Beach. We are well acquainted with the Baca-Pfaff team, which is recognized as one of the West Coast’s premier engine and boat shops. We have great confidence that they will provide excellent services in all aspects of your boating experience.”
Joe Baca, owner of Baca Marine, said he’s excited to be able to expand the company’s client base and provide the customer service and quality boaters are accustomed to at John’s Custom Marine.

“With our expertise, knowledge and decades of experience, Baca Marine-Pfaff Engines will continue to provide excellent service for new and existing customers—and guaranteed satisfaction on all jobs,” Baca said. “We’ve worked with many of their clients in the past so when John was ready to retire and Al decided to relocate, they asked us if we’d take care of their customers, and of course we said yes.”
According to Baca, former John’s Custom Marine clients will have access to a larger variety of products that suit each boater’s individual requirements. Partnered with the engine experts at Pfaff Engines, Baca Marine is one of the most comprehensive boat service, repair and upgrade companies on the West Coast with certified technicians for Mercury, MerCruiser, Mercury Racing and Yamaha engines and equipment.
