Thanks to the teams at American Custom Marine, Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats and Stephen Miles Design, Michigan performance boaters Rob and Laura D’Angelo—the owners of a gorgeous Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats SL 44 that was showcased at the 2018 Miami International Boat Show—now have a radical 390 Sport center console from Nor-Tech to enjoy with friends and family on the water.

Last week, Mike Knoblock, the owner of American Custom Marine in Kimball, Mich., delivered the quad Mercury Racing 450R-powered 39-footer to the couple at their vacation home in Fort Myers Beach, Fla. And, as expected, the couple was overjoyed with the boat, which was painted by Stephen Miles Design in Owensboro, Ky., and delivered on a MYCO Trailers triple-axle aluminum trailer.
The D’Angelos, who have owned many boats, are not new to the center console lifestyle—they owned a 38-foot Donzi before deciding to order the Nor-Tech—but they are new to the Nor-Tech family and so far so good according to Rob D’Angelo.
“Holy mackerel this boat is incredible,” said D’Angelo, who added pretty much every option to the boat, including two 24-inch Garmin displays, radar, auto pilot and FLIR night vision. “The fit and finish on the boat is great and the power of the 450s is amazing. You can nail it at any speed and the responsiveness is phenomenal. Stephen’s paintjob is awesome—I can’t say enough good things about it and the matching graphics he added to the engine cowlings. We are so happy with Mike, Stephen and the entire team at Nor-Tech.
“We’ve had the boat for a little over a week and we put 22 hours on it already,” he added and laughed. “It runs so smooth. I saw 90 mph with two people and a light fuel load, but even with a full tank and nine people on board it reached 87 mph with ease. We’re back in Michigan now; the boat went to Innovation Marine in Sarasota for its first service and will be headed to Michigan after that.”

D’Angelo said he plans to use the boat up north throughout the summer, including running it in the Boyne Thunder Poker Run in Boyne City, Mich., in July. Painted with a similar paint scheme as the Outerlimits that also was applied by SMD, he hopes to get photos of the two boats running together this summer.
“Rob and Laura’s boat is the first 390 Stephen Miles has painted for us—American Custom Marine has been working with Stephen to do a lot of custom paint on our customers’ Nor-Techs,” Knoblock said. “The boat came out amazing. The delivery went well and Rob and Laura seem very happy with it.”
