Anyone who spoke with Scott York, the Missouri performance boater who trailered his 32-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran to Oklahoma’s Grand Lake O’ The Cherokees for the GLOC Performance Boat Challenge Shootout a few weeks ago, days after he participated in the inaugural event would agree that York was on a boating high he’d yet to experience.
Driving the RDC Racing Skater, Scott York and Travis Hill competed in the Lake Race on Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks in June.
Despite breaking a drive on his first pass in the 1997 Skater he purchased last fall and had refreshed by CK Motorsports in Michigan, York had fun in Oklahoma, met some great people, and frankly, was still buzzing from the Lake Race on Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks he competed in several weeks earlier. All of this for a guy who bought the Skater to use as a pleasure boat to replace his 2001 30-foot catamaran from Spectre Powerboats he currently has for sale at Performance Boat Center.
Ask York why he is getting rid of his trusty twin-outboard-powered Spectre cat that has been the most pleasurable and reliable boat he’s ever owned and stepping up into a boat that he pretty much expects to break down from time to time, and he think it sounds a little insane too. Well until you drive the two boats.
