Although registration for participants won’t open until Mar. 1, sponsorship registration for the third annual 1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run in Clayton, N.Y., opened yesterday. Slated for July 18-20, the event offers the following six sponsorship levels:

• Ambassador Sponsor—$25,000.
• Presenting Sponsor—$10,000.
• Platinum Sponsor—$5,000.
• Gold Sponsor—$3,500.
• Silver Sponsor—$1,750.
• Friend of the Poker Run Sponsor—$500.
Each level comes with varying benefits for the sponsor. Proceeds of the event will—as they did in 2018—go to Make-A-Wish of Central New York and the River Community Wellness Program at River Hospital in Alexandria Bay, N.Y.
Event organizing committee member Nolan Ferris said the response so far has been impressive.
“We opened early sponsor registration yesterday and the phones and emails have not stopped,” he said. “It is truly awesome, and a blessing to have such great sponsors participants and friends.
“We are only in our third year but all of us on the organizing committee are humbled by the generosity and positive response that our run is generating,” he adds. “It is such a great feeling to be part of something that gives back so much while at the same time enjoying a favorite pastime.”
Among the sponsors planning to back the event again are Randy and Cherell Scism of high-performance catamaran and center console builder MTI based in Wentzville, Mo.
“You bet we’ll back—it’s on our schedule,” said Scism. “We think the 1,000 Island Charity event is the best-kept secret on the poker run circuit. It’s one of our favorites for all the right reasons.”
