1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run Filling Fast

With registration entering just its seventh day, 94 powerboats already have been signed up by their owners for the 1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run in Clayton, N.Y. According to Jeff Morgan, one of organizers for the event, there are still slots open for the July 21 run, which is heading into its second year.

“We still have space for more boats,” said Morgan. “The 1,000 Islands Harbor Hotel is sold out, but there are plenty of other good lodging options nearby in the area. You don’t want to wait if you’re interested, because this run—on one of the most beautiful waterways in the world—is filling up fast.

“We are incredibly grateful to those people who have signed up and supported the event already,” he added. “The response has been incredible.”

Proceeds from the 150-mile run, which will include a lunch stop at the Antique Boat Museum, will benefit Make-A-Wish of Central New York and River Hospital. In addition to presenting sponsor Aqua-Mania, the event’s high-performance marine industry backers include MTI, Mystic, Nor-Tech, Outerlimits, Sport Chassis/Freightliner and Sunsation.
