In just its second year, the 1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run set for July 21 is facing a high-class problem. Demand for it slots in the Clayton, N.Y.-based event will soon outstrip supply. At present, there are 108 high-performance catamarans, V-bottoms and center consoles registered for the run.

With dock space in Clayton nearing capacity, the host hotel booked solid and hotels in the area filling fast, Jeff Morgan and his fellow 1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run organizers have decided to cap registration at 120 boats.
“We have almost stretched the docks in Clayton to their physical limits,” said Morgan. “There is still place, and hotel accommodations, in Alexander Bay which is about 10 miles away.
“At some point, you have to figure out where you stop taking entries so that everyone signed up has a great experience,” he added.
Morgan suggested that would-be participants still interested in signing up should do so this week.
