About Speed on the Water

Matt TrulioSpeed on the Water is written and edited by Matt Trulio, who has covered high-performance powerboating for 15 years. Trulio started with Powerboat magazine in 1994 as managing editor, and since then has held position of features editor, executive editor and his current position of editor at large.

In his tenure with Powerboats, Trulio has been involved in testing and writing about more than 850 high-performance powerboats. A versatile writer, his work includes everything from race coverage and destination features to technology pieces and personality profiles.

In addition to winning feature-writing awards from Boating Writers International, Trulio won the 1999 Moulton T. “Monk Farnham Award for Excellence in Editorial Commentary from BoatU.S. It is highest honor given for commentary in marine journalism.

Trulio has covered the world of high-performance boating on waterways around the United States and abroad. His story assignments have taken him to Canada, England, France, Holland, Malta, Norway and Peru.

In addition to his ongoing work for Powerboat, Trulio writes a bi-weekly column called “The Big Picture” for Boats.com. He also recently joined H20 Full Throttle magazine, where he writes a column called “The Finish Line” and contributes a range of high-performance boating features.

Speed on the Water is dedicated to giving its visitors the inside story on the spectacular products, events and people that make up the world of high-performance boating.
